Class Post for 3/5
In class today we did a few different things. We talked about some progress that people have made in their projects which was interesting. Emma P. learned how to use a table saw from her dad in order to make a computer table for their living room. After our discussion we got WISE projects of past students to evaluate. I got Mia Reilly's. She is actually a good friend of my brother and I. I actually attended her final presentation my freshman year. She decided to take different types of yoga classes and then focused on Bikram yoga. Bikram is intense yoga that is done in an extremely hot room. I am very excited to read through her materials and really get to know her whole project. I feel that my posts have been kind of bland and somewhat like the "Diary of a Cat" and so I am anxious to see how someone else constructed their writing. We were asked to evaluate our person's project and write a paper answering questions about it. This is due March 18th. After receiving our projects to review, we watched a movie that was a WISE project about a WISE project. It was very interesting to not just read or hear about a project but actually see it.

I called the gym today to talk to someone about classes. I did not get a live person though so I will call back next week to try and make contact.

I have been out sick the past few days and haven't been up to any type of physical activity so I did some research instead. I looked through a book that I checked out of the library. It's called the Ultimate Guide to Cheerleading. There were a lot of useful tips about stunting and tumbling. It was a bit basic and a lot of the information was stuff I already knew. It was nice to see some of the technical explanations of stunts though. It was a mediocre source.

I just did a short workout today. I did an elliptical workout that I found on Pinterest.
Here it is!
Here it is!
I think it worked really well. It is definitely a great cardio workout but it has a huge focus on leg muscle. Definitely a keeper!

I've been having a problem with posting, but I'm back! So to pick up where I left off, I had a great work out last Monday. I worked out with my friends Cam and Erin. Erin is on my team, so I'm used to working out with her. We weren't expecting to work out with Cam but he was already in the work out room, lifting. Erin and I started out doing ten minutes (one mile) on the elliptical to warm up. We went through circuit training after working on arms, legs and abs. Cam then helped me with benching. I tried to do two, 10 pound plates but it was way too much. I couldn't even lift it off of the rack. We took off the plates and I was able to bench the bar which is 45 pounds. I did 3 sets of 15. I have never benched before so I didn't really know what to expect. I thought I may be able to do more, but obviously not. I think I really need to focus on arm strength. I danced competitively for years and so I have built up great leg strength and moderate core strength but my arms are terrible. Upper body strength is going to be essential in my tumbling passes. I finished out my workout with a mile on the treadmill. I find the treadmill to be a lot more difficult than the elliptical. I like it though because after, I feel very accomplished. I jogged at 4 mph for the first quarter mile, 5 mph for the 2nd quarter mile and then 7 mph for the last half mile. I was planning to stay at 6 mph but Cam pushed me to go faster. I like working out with a buddy because there is someone to encourage you and push you a little bit harder. Cam used the "tough love" method and told me that if I stopped running before my mile was done that he would kill me. Clearly it was a joke but it pushed me to pull through. I like that motivation.
